I'm here enjoying the swimming pool in my backyard and meanwhile started thinking about how to hide ugly and noisy pool equipment with some clever landscaping ideas?
It's awesome when you have a pool in the backyard you can party anytime with friends, family, and play with your kids in the pool but on the other hand, it's ugly and unsafe for kids to have pool equipment set up near the pool so I did little research. The simplest way to hide pool equipment with landscaping is to create a systematic fence around pool equipment of plant containers with tall plants planted in it. If you are a DIY person, you can make your own pool equipment screen with wood or other material, or you can buy pool equipment enclosures online or at local landscaping stores.
How to Hide Pool Equipment With Plants
Using plants to hide pool equipment is my personal favorite option. There are some things you need to consider while planting.
1. Selection of Plants
To hide pool equipment selection of plants is very important if you don't select plants properly then in the future you can face problems.
If you select strong root plants like bamboo then after the full growth of bamboo plant the roots of the plants also grow strong and this will may damage your pool equipment.
So make sure first that your plants are soft roots plants so that they will safe option for many upcoming years.
The second main thing during selecting plants is that select colorful plants or you can directly select colorful flower plants so that your yard looks colorful and bright.
If you want to fully hide pool equipment setup then select the plants according to the height and size of your equipment setup.
Suppose you select bushes to hide then it's impossible to fully cover pool equipment so select plants that grow up to your equipment's height.
2. Design
After the selection of your plants, you need to select a design or in which fashion you want to plant plants so according to whole yard landscaping it perfectly matches your yard.
Don't do the box design using plants because it looks over systematic and these boxes look again ugly in your yard.
So instead of doing boxes, you can do other shapes like a triangle shape, simple plant wall or you can group plants together in different designs.
It's totally up to your creativity that how you can design the whole thing to hide pool equipment.
If you are confused and don't have an idea simply you can make a flower garden all-around your swimming pool so pool equipment easily hides and mixes in the garden and it looks beautiful and relaxing pool in the flower garden.
3. Ventilation & Access
Ventilation is important otherwise some people fully packed pool equipment it will cause a heating problem.
Give some space so you can easily enter if in future pool equipment have damage so you or mechanic can get easy access to solve the problem.
4. Be Careful When Watering
After selecting plants, design, and ventilation watering is a very important thing.
While watering your plants make sure that pool equipment is off otherwise you can get an electric shock if there is a cut to the wire.
It can be very dangerous so make sure pool equipment is off while watering your plants.
Which are the Best Plants to Hide Pool Equipment
You can use shrubs, grasses, small trees, vines, and this is also totally up to you, you can use any plants of any size according to your pool equipment size.
But the main disadvantage of plants that plants take some time to grow to their full length.
So to overcome this problem you can use ready-made containers of plants and arrange or group them in different shapes and structures.
And I think plant containers is the best way to hide pool equipment instead of planting the plants.
How to Use Vines to Hide Pool Equipment
Using vines is very easy but it takes time to grow so you need to wait.
First, you need to create a wall-like structure using wooden sticks then you can grow vines over on this structure.
As time goes then the wooden stick structure totally full of vines and you can't see any structure there.
It gives a natural look to your yard. Try to use flower vines so it looks more colorful and fresh.
The only disadvantage is that you need to prune when it goes out of your structure or design.
Other Ways to Hide Pool Equipment Instead of Plants
1. Pool Equipment Walls
A pool equipment wall is the best way to hide your ugly pool equipment. There are two types of pool equipment first is wooden and the second is a stone wall.
If you are a DIY type of person then you could make a wooden wall at home.
I have some wood remaining from my previous landscaping project so I used this remaining wood to make a pool equipment wall.
I made an L-shaped pool equipment wall and it looks very stylish than other box-type structure walls.
2. Lattice Screens
Lattice Screens is another great option for hiding pool equipment.
And lattice screens are my personal favorite option. You can directly buy these screens online and at local landscaping stores.
And if you are a DIY person then you could make it at home easily.
You can decorate these lattice screens with hanging plants and you also create a sitting arrangement in front of these lattice screens and trust me it looks amazing!
3. Pool Equipment Enclosure
If you don't want to make an effort to make lattice screens and walls at home then you could go for these options.
Directly buy these enclosures online or at local landscaping stores and install them.
4. Underground Installation
If you are going to build a new pool then tell your landscaper to install the pool equipment system underground so that you don't have this problem in the future.
And this is the right and professional way to hide your shitty pool equipment because you paid your landscaper to build a beautiful pool.
So it's your right to tell them to install this ugly and noisy pool equipment underground and it's totally safe don't worry!
As per kids and pet's safety, this is the best way to hide your pool equipment with landscaping.
5. Pool House
If you have enough space near the pool then this a great option to build a pool house.
You can use a pool house for multiple purposes like to hide equipment, changing room, shower room, and storeroom.
The pool house is so beneficial for you, you can store mowing machine, landscaping tools, landscaping power tools as per safety purpose of your kids and your pets it is very essential to have a pool house.
And on the other hand, the pool house looks beautiful in your backyard or near the pool so I think this is the best option to have a pool house if you have enough space in your backyard.
6. Vinyl Fence Panels
Vinyl fence panels are ready to use board planks you need to just buy these panels from local landscaping stores or you can buy them online.
After that, you can make your own design by assembling these panels like L shape, T shape, or whatever design you like to install.
You can assemble the whole pool equipment enclosure using these vinyl panels only you need extra vinyl panels.
Vinyl panels are my personal favorite because they are extremely sexy and easy to install.
Is It Okay to Enclose Pool Equipment?
Yeah, it's okay to enclose pool equipment but it is not necessary to enclose pool equipment.
Pool equipment is designed and made for outdoor so don't worry. But some people don't want this ugly pool equipment in the yard.
So they discovered different methods to hide pool equipment so your pool equipment nicely mixed up with your total landscaping.
So it is totally fine to leave your pool equipment open and enclose it. So do whatever you want to do with your pool equipment it's totally all up to you.
